2023-2024 Grants and Scholarships List

St. John Catholic Academy has the following grant and scholarship information available to assist families who need financial assistance. It is our hope that these grants and scholarships will enable any parent to choose a Catholic education for their child(ren). You are encouraged to schedule an appointment with School Administration to discuss tuition, funding opportunities and also to receive individualized help with scholarship applications. Important information and steps to take when applying:

  • Most Scholarships and Grants below only apply to school aged children
  • Read all requirements for eligibility before applying
  • Upload all required documents, otherwise applications are not considered complete
  • Be aware of the deadlines
  • Apply for ALL grants and scholarships that you are eligible to receive
  • Ask administration for assistance in completing applications for optimal results

Parish Participation Grant– Faith Based

Parish Participation Grant Form

  • This grant is for school aged children, who are members of one of our local Catholic Parishes. This grant is valued at up to $800 per student. 
  • Pastors in each local parish have agreed to participate for the coming school year, provided that the student’s family follows the guidelines established by the parish where registered. You must be participating in your parish by sharing your time, talents, and treasures. Application forms are available in the school office or at your parish office. 

 

Kremer Foundation Grant– Income Based

  • This grant is for school aged students only.
  • The Kremer Foundation Grant can supplement any of the state granted scholarships including McKay, Florida Tax Credit Scholarship, Family Empowerment Scholarship, etc.  
  • Parent Application and income substantiation must be submitted to the school office no later than May 22, 2023.   
  • Prior year IRS Form 1040 taxes must by submitted with the paper application or uploaded into FACTS Grant & Aid Application.
  • Household income must not exceed the Federal Food Program’s maximum family income for reduced priced meals.

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Voucher– Age Based, Florida residency required

  • This is a state funded scholarship for children who will turn 4 years old prior to September 1
  • If you have a student entering VPK (4year old class), you can visit the Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida website at www.elcnwf.org to verify eligibility and to apply for a VPK voucher. This voucher will pay for the partial day (8am-11am) in full or will reduce the cost of the full day program. Include signed voucher with registration papers at the time of enrollment.

Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC)– Income Based

The Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC) and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO)

Give your child access to the education that best meets their needs. These scholarships provide financial assistance for private school tuition and related costs, public school transportation and more.

Quick facts:

  • Available to Florida residents, regardless of household income, who are eligible to attend a K-12 public school.*
  • The scholarship will first pay for the cost of private school tuition and related fees or public school transportation.
  • $7,800 average amount awarded for private school scholarships for the 2023-24 school year
  • $750 minimum awarded for transportation scholarships
  • Florida students who are not full-time private nor full-time public school students now have access to the Personalized Education Program (PEP) through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
*Priority will be given to families whose household income is 400% of poverty or below as outlined in the income priority guidelines.

The Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA)

Personalize the education of your child with unique abilities. This scholarship is delivered as an education savings account (ESA) that you can direct toward a combination of programs and approved providers. This includes schools, therapists, specialists, curriculum, technology, a college savings account and more.

Quick facts:

  • Available to students age 3 through grade 12 or age 22, whichever comes first, who have a specific diagnosis
  • $10,000 average award for an FES-UA scholarship
  • Funds may be used for tuition and fees for a private school, homeschooling options, therapies, tutoring and more
