Principal’s Corner ~ 

I pray this finds you enjoying the different pace of summertime.  The new year will be upon us sooner than we might imagine so I wanted to reach out with some important information/reminders:

Step Up/Tuition and Fees :

1. 1. Submit SUFS award ID numbers ASAP 
      1. Parents need to go to their SUFS-EMA Dashboard to verify SUFS has approved their child’s 24/25 Scholarship.  Once approval is received, SUFS will display the 24/25 Scholarship Award ID on the SUFS-EMA Dashboard.
      2. Parents should email their child’s 24/25 Scholarship Award ID to the St John Catholic Academy Front Office – office@sjseagles.org

• NOTE: Please see important information regarding Unique Abilities scholarships included below.  If your student has a qualifying diagnosis, please consult with Step Up regarding applying for a UA scholarship.   

1. Confirm enrollment on SUFS website 

• Parents will receive a SUFS notification to confirm your child’s enrollment as soon as our finance office completes the SUFS-EMA enrollment process for your child. (This process requires the submission of the child’s Step Up Award ID.)  

• The SUFS notification will direct Parents to their SUFS-EMA Dashboard to confirm their child’s enrollment at St John Catholic Academy. 

Please note: 

• The enrollment process has been completed for all students who have submitted a valid Award ID.

1. Fiscal Year Alignment
   1. The 24.25 academic year will see the first tuition fees due in June for Preschool students and July for K-9 students.  This is allowing us to align with the fiscal year which runs from July 1 through June 30th each year.  It also corrected tuition being paid in arrears which does not financially support the necessary day-to-day operations of the Academy. We have been slowly correcting due dates over the past three school years so that the adjustment would be mitigated in smaller steps rather than all at once.  

FAQs regarding Tuition/Fees/FACTS:

• Why do I have two tuition payments due in June 2024?  Because Preschool is a 12-month program (July to June), in order to correct for tuition being paid in arrears, two Preschool tuition payments are now due in June 2024:  
  • $740 for June 2024, the last month of the 23/24 school year and 
  • $790 for July 2024, as the first month of the new 24/25 school year. 

• Will anything be different for K-9 tuition payments?  Because the K-9 school year is August – May, when we corrected tuition being paid in arrears, the K-9 first tuition payment is now due in July 2024 (this supports August operations). 

Uniforms and Hats:

1. Remember to order any needed uniforms BEFORE the school year starts to avoid delays. Uniforms are available at Lands End, visit: Lands’ End School Enter school code: 900035320

2. Sun Hat Requirement:  In support of our students’ safety while outdoors, we added a Sun Hat to our uniform requirement this year for our students’ safety and comfort.  We have included a couple of links to the type of sun hat we are requesting, in navy or khaki:

Students 5-10 years of age: Sun Hat (Navy or Khaki)

Students 10 and up: Sun Hat (Navy or Khaki)

3. Remember Raise Right!!!!! ~ Raise Right can assist in covering your gap in tuition vs Step Up Scholarship amount.  60 % of funds raised may be applied to your gap, 40% will support school operations.  Lands End offers a 15% of your purchase back to our school each time.  Please see information below and call the office with any questions. 

Summer Packets

I pray your students are relaxing and enjoying family time while slowly working on their summer packet.  Learning losses in the summer months are mitigated by a gentle routine of reading, writing, and math practice, no new concepts are expected, but exercising those hard-won learning gains of the last year.  We hope that the whole family will join in together discussing novels, practicing math, and observing nature.  

Summer packets are available in the Office. They may be picked up on Monday or Friday from 8:45-11:30 am. 

SAVE THE DATE: 2024-2025 Mandatory Parent Meeting, Dinner Fellowship, and Open House

When:  Sunday, August 4th beginning @ 5:30 PM in the Church

• Our annual Parent Meeting and Open House will begin promptly at 5:30 in the Church on August 4th.  Please be sure to have at least one parent/guardian in attendance.  We will meet for 30-45 minutes to review important school-year information.  We will then have a fellowship dinner in the hall and classrooms will be open for dropping off supplies (please don’t bring supplies into the Church – there will be time to unload from your car afterward).
