School Bus Stop Safety
There are serious safety issues for students while waiting at the school bus stop. Students are responsible for their actions and behavior while waiting at the school bus stop. The following are essential behaviors for student safety while at the school bus stop. If your child misses the bus, they will need to be driven to school by the parent. Parents will be required to stay with students until the bus arrives at the designated bus stop. A parent or authorized adult that is listed on the students school pick up list must be present at the time of bus drop off. If no authorized adult is present for your student, the student will be taken back to the school and put into aftercare (aftercare charges will apply). Students should:
**STATE DOE MANDATES THAT STUDENTS BE AT THEIR STOP 5 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE BUSES SCHEDULED ARRIVAL TIME**
2. NEVER chase after the bus. It is better to be late for school and be safe!
3. ​Have all items in your book bag before you leave home​.
4. Wait in a safe place, 12 feet away from traffic​.
5. Never speak to strangers at the bus stop and never get into the car with a stranger. Tell your bus driver, your teacher or your parents if a stranger tries to talk to you or pick you up.
6. Respect the property of homeowners and business owners at the bus stop and also keep the noise down.
7. Respect the rights and safety of other students.
8. Wait in a “single file” line or in an orderly group.
9. Avoid horseplay.
10. Refrain from pushing or shoving.
11. Form an orderly line as the bus approaches, with the 1st student in line standing ​12 feetaway from the road.
12. Keep electronic equipment packed away when preparing to board. Never use an electronic device or wear ear buds/headphones when boarding. You MUST be able to hear!
**** Parents must provide car seat for PreK3 and PreK4 students to leave on the bus****
SCHOOL BUS RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. LOAD/UNLOAD IN A SAFE MANNER
  2. TALK QUIETLY IN A LOW VOICE
  3. DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER PERSON’S PROPERTY
  4. DO NOT THROW OBJECTS INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE BUS
  5. NO PROFANITY. NO SPITTING
  6. DO NOT PUSH OR SHOVE ANOTHER STUDENT
  7. STAY IN YOUR SEAT —— NO STANDING PERMITTED
  8. SHOW RESPECT FOR THE DRIVER
  9. KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF
  10. MUST BE ON TIME AT BUS STOP — ARRIVE 5 MINUTES BEFORE PICK UP TIME
  11. STAY IN YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT
  12. DO NOT CUT OR TEAR SEAT IN ANY WAY TO CAUSE DAMAGE THE BUS
  13. WATCH THE DRIVER FOR HAND SIGNALS
  14. ALWAYS CHECK TRAFFIC BEFORE YOU CROSS THE ROAD
  15. NO EATING, CHEWING GUM, CANDY, OR DRINKING ANYTHING BUT WATER ON
    THE BUS
  16. NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND (FIREARMS, KNIVES, ETC.)
  17. NO FIGHTING, BULLYING, THREATS, HARASSMENTS OF ANY KIND
  18. NO FALSIFYING OR FORGING INFORMATION
  19. NO IMPROPER TOUCHING/PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION
  20. NO CELL PHONES ARE TO BE USED ON THE BUS. CELL PHONE WILL BE
    CONFISCATED IF USED.
  21. DRIVER HAS THE AUTHORITY TO ASSIGN SEATS
