2022 – 2023 Parent Teacher Organization Invitation – August 21,2022

 

Dear SJCA Families:

 

What a beautiful beginning we have experienced these past two weeks.   The students have all settled into their new classrooms/routines and the campus has been alive with joyful participation and engagement with our new classical curriculum from Memoria Press.  

 

I would like to extend an invitation to all of our families to participate in our Parent Teacher Organization.  We are blessed to have had so many families contribute their time, talent, and treasure throughout the years as we are continuing to seek creative ways to increase participation.  The strength of our Academy community is directly proportionate to the diversity of voices, perspectives, and active engagement that we are able to cultivate and welcome.  I have prayerfully heard and appreciated the many parents who have shared their experiences and suggestions for improvement with me.   

 

The first PTO meeting is this Thursday, August 25th at 3:00 in our Media Center.  We understand that you are busy and that time is precious, therefore we have moved our PTO meetings to 3:00 right after carline. The time change will allow faculty and staff to participate and we are offering aftercare for any parent that wants to attend. 

 

Aftercare for PTO meetings:  If your student does not usually attend aftercare and you would like them to during PTO meetings, please email office@sjseagles.org putting ‘PTO aftercare’ in the subject line.  In the body of the email please give the student(s) full name and grade.  They will receive a tag for their backpack that indicates they are registered for aftercare for PTO meetings only.  Pre-registration is required so that we can be properly staffed to care for our students.  

NoteIf your student already attends aftercare, you do not need to email the office.   

 

We are currently developing an option for working parents who would like to participate in PTO, either through an evening virtual meeting or simply by sharing a summary of each meeting with the community.  It would be helpful to know how many families would be interested in an evening virtual PTO meeting.  Please email office@sjseagles.org and put ‘PM Virtual PTO’ in the subject line.  Then in the body of your email please indicate your preferred time/day of the week.  I will share the results of this once they have been collated. 

 

Teachers have/will be inviting participation as a Room Parent and/or volunteer as well.  Requirements for SJCA Volunteers can be found here. There will be many opportunities to participate in events throughout the year.  The PTO will coordinate with Room Parents on events that may need class participation such as our Annual Harvest Festival, where each classroom provides a carnival-style game booth to include in the festivities.  

 

Coming up soon is our Grandparent Appreciation Lunch which will be Monday, September 12th.  The PTO will be sending out invitations to invite our Grandparents to spend lunchtime with their grandchildren (at their normally scheduled lunchtime in the parish hall).  We will encourage them to bring their own lunch and lunch for their grandkids and we will be providing desserts for everyone. 

 

 I hope you will experience the blessing of seeing the students’ smiles and hear their laughter during events meant to strengthen and grow our community bonds.  Thank you in advance for all you have done and will do to support the Academy.
